Choosing Your Featured Products for Right Navigation Column

A very frequently asked question is how to control what appears in your right navigation as Featured Products if you are using a template that displays Featured Products automatically.

The Penney Layne DIY Site Builder will automatically choose products to display here unless you select which products to display. Some clients don’t want to fool with setting up featured products, so this allows them to show featured products without actually having to do ANYTHING.

If you wish to select which products appear here, it is a very simple process. The Penney Layne DIY Site Builder is set to show 5 products in the featured column by default. If you require more or less, you can submit a support ticket and request that change to your store builder.

To control the products that appear, simply log into the Penney Layne DIY Site Builder and access FEATURED under the ADVANCED column. Then you can control which products appear by selecting SET and UNSET.

If you will take note, if you change a product this way, and then edit the product itself under products, you will see the product now reads Featured as YES instead of NO. You set a product to featured using the product edit mode, or using the Advanced and Featured Method mentioned above.

Also note, that under Advanced and Featured, the product will show FEATURED out next to its description to make it easier for you to scroll for items marked featured. The word featured is not actually in the description portion of the product, but appears there for your ease of use.
