Achieving Website and Internet Success

I am constantly amazed at the fact that website owners are not taking advantage of the vast amount of Free Advertising available on the internet to assist them in promoting their websites. One key factor that helps your website climb in the search engines is its url link being located by search engine spiders on similar content sites. A very simple and cheap solution is right at your fingertips. Are you USING it?

We have a free plugboard on almost every one of our websites. We don’t charge a *Penney* at Penney Layne, or any of our other sites to plug our plugboards. We provide a plugboard graphic to our clients when they purchase a webset for that very purpose. If you don’t have a plugboard graphic, you can get one for about $1.00-$1.50 (at least I know you can get a plug on our site here at Plugboard Graphics. We keep this as simple as we can. If you don’t like one of the plugboard graphics you see there, we’ll make a custom plug for you for the same price! Just grab the product Custom Plug.

All you do is go to plugboard, enter the URL to your plugboard graphic (you’ll need to have it uploaded to your website server or your image host), enter the URL to your website, and click. You’re done. Over a period of time, your plug will be bumped. So go back to the plugboard periodically and check, if it was bumped just enter it again. Creating a folder in your browsing favorites is a GREAT way to do this, so you have the link there and can just click on it to arrive at the plugboards you have joined. Set aside a day a week, or maybe every two weeks, to click and plug. It does not take that long, but it will keep you cross linked with other sites.

While you can post your plug anywhere, try to target plugboards that are similar in theme to your website. If you have a primitive craft website, you should target prim craft plugboards. If you have Nascar Racing website, target Nascar racing plugboards. Be sure to follow the rules. Give your plug graphic TIME to APPEAR, it takes a few seconds for the plugboard to reload. If you plug more than once, and you do this repeatedly, the plugboard manager may ban your site. So follow the plugboard rules.

Another great free advertising tool is the Top 100 Site. If you take a look at this page, Topsites, it shows you some sites where Penney Layne is a member of a Top 100 List. When you join a Top 100 List, you are provided with some Linking Code to place on your site. We recommend creating a web page just for the purpose of displaying these links. Most Top 100 Sites allow only one vote per day from yourself. This is controlled by your IP address. You are in hopes that you are not the only person voting from your Vote Page. Nonetheless, take advantage of your one daily vote. Set aside a time every day, early morning works best for me, and Vote for Yourself. Try to remember to do this EACH day.

You’ll find that when you start plugging plugboards, or Joining Top 100 Sites, one Plugboard leads to another. One Top 100 leads to another. It does take time in the beginning to Join The Top 100’s. Don’t try to do it all at once. Set a goal, such as: “I’ll join 2 new top 100 sites a day.” In 30 days, you should be a member of 60 topsites. That’s a lot of cross linking! That puts your banner and your site out there for everyone to see.

You will need a banner to use in the Top 100 Sites. Most people use a 468×60 banner. Penney Layne provides a banner in all of their websets. However, if you need one, you can get one here: Banner Graphics.
